Devlog #1 – Welcome to the World of Thoughts

Devlog #1 – Welcome to the World of Thoughts

This is the first development update for WOT – World of Thoughts, an atmospheric
2D adventure set in a world shaped by emotions.

This devlog introduces the concept of the game, explains the goals of the first version,
and gives a look at where development is heading.

What is WOT?

WOT – World of Thoughts is a narrative-driven top-down adventure where the world,
environments, and events are influenced by emotional energy.

Instead of action or combat, the focus is on:

  • atmosphere
  • mood
  • mystery
  • emotional storytelling

The world reacts to emotions rather than logic. What you see is shaped by what is felt.

The Beginning: A Silent Forest

The first playable content starts in a quiet forest.
You wake up with no memories, no name, and no explanation.

The goal is to create:

  • calm atmosphere
  • subtle tension
  • a sense that something is wrong beneath the surface

You explore the forest, learn the basics, and eventually discover the ruins of an Emotion Temple.
Inside, broken murals, damaged structures, and a shattered crystal show that something powerful happened here.

Touching the crystal triggers a vision — a brief emotional flash that reveals part of the world’s past.

This moment sets the tone for the game:
story through environment, emotion, and imagery — not long dialogue.

Why Episodic?

WOT will be released in multiple parts.
This allows:

  • steady growth of the world
  • constant improvement through feedback
  • new emotional themes in each release
  • a controlled story pace

The early content is free so everyone can try the game and feel the tone.

Current Progress

Right now, the main focus is building the foundation:

  • 2D top-down movement
  • basic interaction
  • starting forest area
  • first Emotion Temple interior
  • sound and atmosphere setup
  • crystal vision system

The first version is small but important — it introduces the world, the mood, and the core idea.

What’s Next?

Upcoming tasks include:

  • finishing forest details
  • adding more environmental storytelling
  • improving interactions
  • preparing the first public build
  • polishing atmosphere & pacing

Future devlogs will dive deeper into emotional mechanics, world design, and the creative process.
